Car dashboard v2

Fast prototyping
an award winning
car dashboard
Create an innovative and easy to use car dashboard in a month, that was the challenge ahead during this project. In collaboration with the car design studio in charge of the project and the design agency in charge of the prototype, we created a working car prototype unveiled at the Beijing 2016 Motor Show.
As part of this project, my role was to build the UX/UI of the dashboard. Working closely with the prototyping team, we had to quickly make choice to fit the deadline.

Building on our collective experience as drivers, as a first iteration, we made choice over the interaction inputs that will be use to test and prototype.

Based on this commun direction, I went over multiple hand sketches to find the best way to interact with the dashboard content. We also worked on the type of content the user should find depending on his position in the car
We then tested some of the main ideas we selected on paper. From the test result, we were able to select the features we wanted to prototype for the car show.

From then we did multiple iterations, as I was working on the UI, I needed to give content and advice to the prototyping team, as well as I needed to align with designer in charge of the interior design of the car.

After 2 weeks we started to have a first version of the prototype. By choosing wisely what feature we would fake using videos and what interaction we would fully prototype, we finally builded in about a month a user experience that customers and journalists will be able to try and feel during the car show.

After being all assembled, the car prototype was presented at the Beijing 2016 Motor Show. It won the ‘Best Concept Car’ award at the second Chinese Brand Car of the Year and Best Designer Contest 2016 event
